Islamic Art Exhibition March 31 – April 16

WIM wishes to promote the following event:

Islamskkunst.com aims to organize an Islamic art competition to stimulate artistic activity among youth. Islam has been a source of inspiration for artistic activity for Muslim artists worldwide. Many traditional Islamic disciplines and artistic expressions are being displaced in the modern world. We wish to see Islamic artistic expressions such as Arabic calligraphy and Islamic geometric patterns in a modern context that will help preserve some of the rich Islamic cultural heritage. Modern forms of expression such as photography and video are also desired contributions, and it is permitted to use humor to convey one’s message.

Target group: Participants must be between 16-21 years old.

Submission deadline is March 25: Participants can submit 1 or 2 works and specify the task number and letter as shown in the following example: 2A (corresponding to Product Design – Wall Decor) or 4C (corresponding to Photo-Film-Hijab).

Submission location: Works can be delivered on Mondays and Thursdays from 17:00-19:30 at Calmeyers gate 8, 1st floor women’s section to Karima Solberg.

Publication: The works will be exhibited on www.islamskkunst.com and Facebook so that the public can cast their votes. The winning work will be exhibited at the Islamic Association from 30.03-16.04.2012 along with the Nur exhibition.

Prize: The winner receives 5000 NOK.
