In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Merciful.
Takbir al-Tashriq is a practice that has been handed down from the previous generations of Muslims with reference to Sayyiduna ‘Ali and Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them) in the collection of Ibn Abi Shayba [Ibn al-Humam, Fath al-Qadir]. This is therefore a practice that has its roots from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and is therefore considered authentic and meritorious.
It is wajib (obligatory) to recite Takbir al-Tashriq once immediately after the fard prayers from the Fajr prayer on the 9th of Dhul-Hajj until the Asr prayer on the 13th of Dhul-Hajj. According to some scholars, it is wajib to recite it three times (Radd al-Muhtar, bab al-idain). Therefore, it is recommended that one recite it three times. It is also wajib to read it in a loud voice (Hashiya al-Tahtawi ala Maraqi al-Falah, p. 538). This applies regardless of whether one prays alone or in congregation (jama’ah). Takbir al-Tashriq is as follows:
(Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa’Allahu, wa’Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-hamd)
And Allah knows best.
