Most are housed in temporary buildings such as old villas, industrial buildings, and similar structures. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Islamic Mission is located in a building constructed for this purpose. This was Norway&#8217;s largest Muslim congregation, with 4,792 registered members as of January 1, 2024. Today, the mosque has several external branches affiliated with WIM centrally located on \u00c5kebergveien. These include branches in Holmlia, Stovner, Str\u00f8mmen, and Jessheim.    <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WIM promotes traditional Islamic values while also addressing contemporary challenges. We also work to foster greater understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims. Through gatherings, seminars, lectures, publications, and digital platforms, WIM disseminates authentic Islamic knowledge. Before the mosque at \u00c5kebergveien 28 B was completed, the congregation was housed in old warehouses in Urtegata, in Vahl secondary school, and in Borggata. The foundation stone for the mosque was laid on April 12, 1991, but the building was not ready for occupancy until 1994\/95.   <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c17edcc e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"c17edcc\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a7aec90 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"a7aec90\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-30f00e4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"30f00e4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Mosque Building<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-91bce24 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"91bce24\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mosque in \u00c5kebergveien has a gross area of 1,260 square meters distributed over three floors, a gallery, and two minarets. It can accommodate approximately 700 people, making it the second-largest mosque in Norway. The walls, both exterior and interior, are decorated with tiles from Iran and Spain. Calligraphy from the Quran is a central motif on the tiles, which adorn the facade and the front wall of the main hall. The tiling was primarily carried out by Iranian tilers.
