Guidelines
Clear and explicit guidelines from public authorities are in place for the solemnization of marriage:
- All individuals intending to marry must first contact the National Registry to register and obtain a certificate of no impediment.
- The processing time for the certificate of no impediment is usually 1–5 weeks.
- Once the certificate of no impediment has been received, an appointment for the marriage ceremony can be booked with the mosque.
- According to the law, all inquiries must be directed to the Imam of the mosque.
- No religious community is permitted to solemnize a marriage (Nikah) without a valid certificate of no impediment.
When booking an appointment for the marriage ceremony, the following documents must be presented:
- Certificate of no impediment from the National Registry
- Valid identification for both the bridal couple and witnesses
